Hi Franco, I am not worried about the guide at all. I see it going online to update at regular intervals, it is Media Centre that I have a problem with. It won't even open since going off on Saturday and just gives the message "Media Centre has stopped working" and a "Microsoft will check for a solution" but of course nothing ever comes back. I wish I had stayed on XP as I never had problems with Media Centre on it (well, other than the ones you helped me with!). Windows 7 is too complicated for me.

Hi Tessa,

In that case you will have to perform a system restore to a date your Media Center was working as some of the other users here did.

Also breaks my MCE System restore is all that works, but I cant keep on doing it.

It seems as if it may be related to connectivity. The MCEGUIDE has an unhandled exception when it is unable to update and then somehow corrupts MCE.

Hope that helps you solve it.... If it does can I have a free upgrade to pro?

Had to ask :-)

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately that does really help me as the MCEGuide client performs numerous actions during a guide/client update. I have added extended error reporting in the update routines and will be monitoring the process closely in the coming weeks.

HI Franco,

I have had this same error happen to me twice over the past two weeks. It did happen after my internet connection was capped.

I also saw a graphic showing a media center remote asking to setup media center.

Doing a system restore has allowed media center to startup
