Hi Guys

I am releasing a standalone utility to handle the automated mapping of channels in Windows 7.

This is being released as a BETA utility and will be updated if and when issues are found. It is available in both 32 and 64 bit versions.

I would be interested to hear from people how this utility is running and if there are any improvements that can be made.

The utility will disable keyboard and mouse input and will run for approximately 5 minutes based on the speed of the client machine. It will map the entire premium bouquet but if there is a need i can make other utilities to handle the smaller bouquets. The perfect time for a cup of coffee!!

Once this functionality has been fully tested and wrung out, it will be incorporated into the main MCEGuide client.

Thanks and happy mapping!!!!

Regards

Hi Guys

I have uploaded a new set of compiled mapping scripts in both x86 and x64.

The changes include:

  • Shuts down any running MCE shell processes before starting
  • Disables transition animations and sound effects to shorten run time of script and then re-enables them
  • Added Supersport HD and Discovery HD channels to Mapping Table
  • Shuts down MCE shell after script is completed

Again please download and check this script out and let me know if there are any problems.

Regards

Is anyone having a problem with the automap script like i am.....
It does everything as stated, shuts down, starts creating etc... but from about click 10, it goes haywire and enters into the favourite lineup section and ends up changing the zoom and other weird setups on each channel....
The final outcome is 1 channel only which is 999 and no changing capacity... i end up restoring to default to at least be able to cahnge the channels.....

Is it simply worth waiting for the Mapping section in the new anticipated release of MCE Guide? Will MCE Guide cater for the solution to the attached?

So i thought with all my tweaks, i'd redo my MCE completely and retry the automap script.
i did so, but to no avail...
I then began the manual process of mapping channel for channel and did my 20 favoutires to start. i then thought i'd retry the script one more time for good luck and bam! it worked a charm.

Maybe you clever guys can figure that out or build this scenario into the automapper because it appeared that you need to map one channel manually first before the script worked... feel free to reset to defaults and try the script to test my theory.......if you feeling really bored.

Cheers

Hi Grant

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll have a look at the script again and see if we can include the possibility of this option.

Regards

P.S. I am feeling really bored at the moment!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for this! Having just upgraded my MC to Win 7 x64 using the Enhanced Guide this took a lot of the drudgery out of mapping the channels.

I found a few missing channels which I added manually but now they don't have logos nor data. I have updated logos and guide data from the MCE Guide 7 Update page but they still show "No Data" and no logos. Any ideas?

Are we any where near getting a final release for this auto mapping, perhaps included with the Guide again and with all DSTV premium channels? It will be really great to have.

Thanks again and looking forward to the new release.

Hey Bozzy,
I think i know why the channel mapping utility went all haywire...
The script obviosuly works by following clicks in a set sequence... which is cool... buy when the Guide added in the new HD channels, and renamed some channels (like universal channel etc) the section that used to type "mn" now brings up a MNET HD channel first instead of the previous sequence where it brought up the normal mnet channel... this is only an example but i'm sure you get the gist...

Anyway, fix it to simply... and i mean simply.... remap the script to all the new channels that the guide has... :D

for what its worth....
Cheers
